About me When I first started teaching, I used an overhead projector, transparency sheets, and the actual textbook I used when I was in middle school (my students used to play a game to see who would wind up with "Ms. King's book") . Two short years later, I applied to be one of the first 1:1 digital classrooms in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. After being accepted, I entered a cadre of phenomenal educators where we were explicitly trained in effective technology integration and best practices. Digital learning revolutionized my Gifted and Talented Social Studies classroom and eventually lead me to being named Secondary District Teacher of the Year. Wanting to move closer to my family and to better utilize my passion for innovation, I moved to New Braunfels, TX and became an Instructional Technology Coach in Comal ISD.
After growing for two years as an Instructional Technology Coach, I was promoted to my current position, Coordinator of Gifted and Talented Services and Academic Programs at Comal ISD. In this position, I lead several teams of teachers and manage the budgets for various programs including G/T, Robotics, Academic UIL, A.V.I.D., Chess, Paradigm Challenge, The Stock Market Game, and am currently building a new competition to help encourage participation in district events. |
